| Each year, the Monument Awards committee shapes the program, determining entry specifications, recruiting builders and identifying sponsors and promotional opportunities. The committee forms teams representing each segment of the industry: builders, designers, architects, and marketing and sales specialists. The teams visit each entry, taking notes and pictures and reviewing the model’s brochures. MNCBIA and NVBIA thank the volunteers for contributing time and expertise to this year's Monument Award and congratulate the nominees and winners! |

Congratulations to the winner of the 2008 Monument Awards Best in Show, The Peterson Companies for National Harbor!
"For the first time in many years, the Best of Show award was easy to agree on.
In fact, it was close to unanimous. I'll give you a few reasons why: In a year of diminished expectations, tonight's winner is audacious. In a year when we look for small victories, tonight's winner is huge in scope.
In a county not known for upscale development, tonight's winner is as stylish and grand as anything in recent years.
And in a region that has never really taken advantage of its proximity to the great river that runs right through its heart, tonight's winner celebrates its waterfront location in every possible way. It is a bold mix of residential, retail, commercial space and lots of hospitality, and public art on a grand scale. But you need only to walk outside to see all this, and more. This year's Best of Show award goes to The Peterson Companies for National Harbor."
